Mother’s Ring or Engagement Ring?
This is a design that I did for a customer in Australia!

I got an email from a woman who had found a design online that she loved but they wouldn’t ship overseas. She also wanted very specific stones to represent her, her future husband, her daughter, and her baby. I found out after the piece was finished that this ring was going to be her wedding ring and since she doesn’t usually wear a lot of jewelry, she wanted it to be more meaningful even than the average wedding ring–therefore she wanted every stone to represent someone special. The stones are garnet, alexandrite, and aquamarine.
The first design I did, I tried to replicate the design she had sent (with a few changes so as not to plagarize some one else’s work) but the price ended up a little high. To bring the price down, I slimmed the gold pieces on top to reduce the gold weight and I alternated the diamonds with small gold balls that when polished would look like diamonds.
Once the customer approved the design, I sent my design file out to be cast in 14 carat white gold and I ordered the stones. Because the colored stones were only 3mm and trillion shaped, the stones were not in stock at my colored stone vendor. It took 8 weeks to get the stones, but it was worth the wait. The piece turned out great!
