I love taking stones out of different jewelry, especially heirloom jewelry, and using them in new jewelry.

I actually grew up with this customer so I knew her really well. Doing work for friends and being able to be such an important part of the important moments of their lives, is amazing. It also puts the pressure on me to be the best I can be!

This customer started her engagement ring search with very little direction. She knew she wanted something with an antique-like design but she didn’t know what stone or stones she wanted and she didn’t have a clear idea of how much she could spend. Here are some designs we started with:

Then, her mom gave her a family ring that had a ruby oval in the center and several small diamonds on the sides. It helped narrow the design a ton! Here are the ideas I sent her based on her actual stones:

She loved the one with the diamonds going around the ruby so we decided to go with that design in 14K white gold.

The stones had to be pulled out of the original ring and cleaned before being put into the new setting. They cleaned up so nicely and we decided not to rhodium the white gold so the ring had a little warmer color than what most people think of for white metals. I mailed the ring to her boyfriend so it would be a surprise and when he proposed, she saw the ring for the first time and loved it!
